Ugaas Hassan finally laid to rest

The corpse of the renowned traditional elder of Xawadle clan was finally laid to rest in a well known cemetery called Daara Ugaas near Bulabarde where 19 other Ugaas were buried before him.

The Ugaas was given his last farewell at Laqanyo Stadium in Baladweyne where nearly a thousand people attended his burial.

Interior Minister, Gen. Muktar Hussein Afrah who was among the attendees from the Federal Government paid his tribute.

The place where Ugaas was buried is al-Shabab stronghold and not everyone was able to accompany the congregation.

He was born in 1946 in Bulabarde and served as the head of numerous ports including Mogadishu, Kismayo and Berbera.

Ugaas Hassan was mistakenly listed among those who died as a result of Covid-19 illness earlier this week. But doctors later confirmed that he died of heart attack.

He was crowned as the 20th Ugaas of Xawaadle Clan on 25 July 2016.
